1. Tell us what's broken
Pick a service category — plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or handyman — and enter your ZIP code. Add a sentence or two describing the job (a clogged kitchen drain, a panel upgrade for an EV charger, a tune-up before summer, a punch list of small repairs). Photos help but aren't required.
2. We dispatch up to three local pros
FixNearMe routes your request to up to three pre-screened pros in your ZIP code based on three signals: licensing status, recent review quality, and recent on-time response rate. There's no auction, no upcharge, and no hidden fee — pros pay a flat monthly fee for the right to receive matched leads, which is why your quote stays free.
3. You compare quotes and hire the right pro
Each pro responds with an up-front written quote — usually within the hour during business hours, and within a few hours after. You compare quotes side by side, read reviews, ask follow-up questions if you want, and book directly with the pro you choose. FixNearMe is never paid by you, the homeowner.
What we verify
Before any pro is listed on FixNearMe, we verify their state contractor license number against the issuing board, confirm active general liability insurance, and check for a working phone number and physical service address. We re-verify licensing every year and remove any pro whose license lapses, whose insurance is cancelled, or whose review pattern deteriorates over time.
Why we built it
The home services market is opaque and confusing for most homeowners. Big "lead generation" platforms sell the same job to seven contractors and disappear when things go wrong. FixNearMe was built specifically to fix the parts of the experience that the big platforms refuse to fix: real licensing verification, transparent ranking, no shared leads, no robo-calls, no surprise fees, and a real human on every trust-and-safety complaint.
