FixNearMe is a free directory connecting U.S. homeowners with licensed, insured plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and handymen — including 24/7 emergency dispatch in most metros. We started FixNearMe after watching family members get burned, again and again, by online "lead generation" services that sold the same job to seven contractors and then disappeared the moment something went wrong. Homeowners deserve better — and so do good local pros.
Every business on FixNearMe is verified for current state contractor licensing, active general liability insurance, and a real, working phone number. We re-verify annually and remove any pro whose license lapses or whose review pattern deteriorates. We do not sell your contact information to telemarketers, we do not run robo-call campaigns, and we never share your email with anyone outside the up-to-three pros you've explicitly requested a quote from.
Who we are
FixNearMe is run by a small distributed team of former contractors, software engineers, and consumer-protection writers based across the United States. We have no outside investors and no plans to take any — the company is funded entirely by paid pro listings (which never affect search ranking) and contextual advertising. Our editorial guidelines forbid pay-for-placement in any search result, on any city page, or in any service category.
How we make money
FixNearMe is free for homeowners — always. We monetize in two ways: licensed pros pay a flat monthly fee for an enhanced listing (badges, photos, priority response routing on quote requests), and we run contextual advertising on a small number of high-traffic pages. Neither paid listings nor advertising affect organic search ranking on our site, and any sponsored placement is clearly labeled.
Editorial independence
Search ranking on FixNearMe is determined by a published, transparent algorithm built on three signals: verified license status, recent review quality and quantity, and on-time response rate to quote requests. We do not accept payment to remove negative reviews or to suppress complaints. We publish our own quote-data analyses to keep the home services market more transparent for consumers.
